The rock
The Acropolis is an ancient citadel on a flattish-topped rock that rises 150 metres above sea level. Its top covers about three hectares and holds the remains of several ancient buildings.
Pericles and the Parthenon
The buildings whose remains matter most were coordinated by Pericles in the fifth century BC. They include the Parthenon, the Propylaea, the Erechtheion and the Temple of Athena Nike.
After dark
Dinner on the rooftop looks toward the Acropolis monuments and the Parthenon, lit at night. Start times vary by date, so check the slot if the floodlit view matters most to you.
The dome
The evening finishes looking across the centre of Athens toward the dome of Agios Dimitrios church.
Where to look first
Find the Parthenon on the summit, then let your eye follow the rock down to the flat roofs of the city around you.

Take your photographs before the last light goes, then eat. The skyline stays in view while you finish the meal.
